love and trucks

It has felt like summer in town this past few days. Which has helped to relieve a bit of my clerkship induced exhaustion, and replenish my vitamin D stores for another few months of sitting in windowless nursing stations. So, with kid and required baggage, we spent sunday at the Tams, watching jugglers and drummers, fire spinners and frisbee players, and ate hummus.
Or, MamaM and i did; LittleE tried to engage various strangers in front-end loader appreciation.

People keep trying to reassure me how bright, social, and neurotypical the spawn is.

But really. . .

We have rounded the corner of "hobby" and are busily excavating/scraping/grading/plowing/paving our way to "perseveration".

At the same time, i find him eat-you-up adorable, and i can't help but enjoy his evident delight in all things machinery. So few people EVER feel that happy -- let alone sparked by something so easy to come by as a backhoe on a flatbed truck. So like the lazy, indulgent, pushover parent i am, i find myself taking small detours to pass by construction sites if there is time, and reading books for their truck illustrations.

There is subtle beauty to heavy machinery - I've always found it fascinating... You must show him forestry machines - they are formidable compared to the everyday grackleness of construction equipment. Harvesters, Slash bundlers and fell-bunchers :D They are cool.
